[Today's Lisa Zate Topic] Today's little story; about an artist named Stan Walker

 

The first time I saw Stan was a feature on the Australian Idol show. The content of his audition was projected. Incredibly beautiful voice. I was shocked by the song HOME SICK.

Born in Australia 30 years ago, he has the blood of MAORI and grew up in Mt Maunganui, NZ, and attends high school in Hamilton. Although he lived with his five siblings and his parents, he himself suffered repeated violence against his father's mother (the father had been in jail several times). He says he was the worst of his brothers. Stan has also been sexually abused by relatives. At 19, he lost his child to a miscarriage.

He returns to Australia and gradually approaches the world of entertainment. He became the top performer at Australian Idol, and his busy days as an artist began, including recording and interviews. Later, he was widely active, such as appearing as an actor in the promotion of AIR NZ and in movies.

Stan, who showed a photo to the media in 2018, surprised not only fans but also NZ and the whole country. In fact, he announced that he had an operation for stomach cancer in 2017. It was a rare type of cancer that followed his family (more than 25 of his relatives died of the cancer). He was clearly just before his death.

After that, Stan gradually recovered, released a new album, and recovered enough to tour. After that horrific incident happened in Christchurch in 2019, he wrote a song with condolences in May of that year.

He is only 30 years old. Even so, he has had a lot of experience. It was not the fate of his own choice. And he has grown into a soulful and heart-shaped person. There is no doubt that he has a high level of talent.

I would like to collaborate with him someday.
