[Today's Lisa Zate Topic] Today's Japan News; Crushing Treasure Chest

The flow of the times is sometimes exciting with the development and birth of new things, but sometimes it makes me lonely and sad. When I was small, I often went to department stores such as Daimaru and Takashimaya in Kyoto Japan because it was a commuting route between my house and my kindy, and when it came to clothes, I bought them there. If you go to, you will find a wide array of foods such as delicatessen, fresh seafood, sushi, Japanese sweets, bread, and the smell when we are going down by the escalator,  and the many foods of Royal house or castle  that spread in front of you. It's a pity that we can't see it any more.

Online shopping is developing so fast now, and people can easily get various things without going outside. Recently, the number of people going out has decreased due to the influence of corona. It may not be the case that shopping at a department store is slow.

But for many years, it's a place where you can take our dining table as a souvenir for your friends, or with one or two before going to some boss's house, and enjoy it with your nose and eyes and later on by mouth of course.

It's hard to maintain such a huge treasure chest. In fact, more than half of the department stores are gone broke in Japan, and the stores in rural areas have to be closed one after another.

If this goes on, not only department stores but also buildings will be empty in the future. Cities may no longer be cities.
