[Today's Lisa Zate Topic] Today's NZ News: School from Today

The education period in NZ is set at 6 to 16 years old, but most children stay at home until 17 years old. The new semester starts from the year when you turn 5 years old, but not all of them will be in the first grade from April at the same time as in Japan. Depending on the primary school, it is divided into two terms, and it is divided into two grades in one year, which is a slightly complicated system. (In other words, even a year-old child can skip the grade)

The grade begins with "Year 1" rather than the first grade of primary school.

Private schools are a little different, but in general, Years 1 to 6 are Primary school, INTERMEDIATE is Years 7 to 8, and Secondary school (;High school) is till Year 13.

After that, many students go to universities or vocational schools (Polytechs/Polytechnics) called Tertiary Education.

The instrument is divided into four parts, and the new school year begins around February and the first holiday begins around the end of March. It's a two-week fall vacation. Then, in April, the second semester begins, and it is winter holiday around July. After that, 3rd semesters set up until the end of September, and after spring holiday, the last semester of the school year began just today. It is the 4th semester of 2 months from today until the long summer holiday.

This year there was corona disaster, so Children could hardly go to school, and it would have been difficult for both the school and the students to do online lessons through a computer, but fortunately NZ has almost managed the influence of the corona, so we hope the school year ends safely as it used to be.
